Cultural councils have been established in the municipalities of Kyustendil, Troyan and Shumen, which will actively support the activities of the administration in this sphere, the municipalities suggest.

The main functions of the councils will be to consult, make recommendations, seek partners and sponsors for the implementation of the cultural calendar of the municipality and other events in the field of culture and art. The Councils will also discuss important and topical issues related to the activities and cultural policy of each municipality, expressing opinions, giving recommendations, examining and making proposals on projects and regulations; discussing ideas for activities to implement the strategy of municipal policies for the protection and development of culture, combining the principles of national cultural policy with local conditions and traditions, as well as projects for their practical implementation.

The Councils are composed of representatives of the creative unions, the NGO sector, as well as prominent creative personalities and experts.
